FRICTION MATERIALS

Delphi utilises over 20 different friction materials across its range of brake pads. This ensures a closer match in terms of performance and comfort characteristics to the OE fitment.

These compounds have been developed and refined over time to provide consistently high levels of friction right from cold, low dust and low noise.

UNDERLAYER MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE

The vast majority of Delphi pads now incorporate an underlayer, a manufacturing process used by most OE.

What is underlayer?

Layer of friction material between the pad back-plate and the normal friction material compound.
This layer of material contains a higher content of resins than the friction material itself.

Why is underlayer used?

To dampen vibrations which can cause noise.
To ensure a higher bonding strength between backing plate and material.

R90 APPROVALS

All Delphi pads meet or exceed all official regulations for quality and safety, and the range complies with European Regulation 90 where legally required.
Majority of approvals gained from the TUV in Germany.
